Balanced Attack Powers Knights to Dominant Win Over Sussex County

The CCBC Essex men's lacrosse team delivered another impressive performance on Saturday, rolling past Sussex County Community College, 20-1, to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Knights came out firing from the opening whistle, overwhelming Sussex County with relentless offensive pressure and a fast-paced transition game. Essex exploded for 11 first-quarter goals and never looked back, adding six more scores before halftime to take complete control of the contest.

Sophomore attacker Rob Andrews (Towson, MD) led the offensive surge with a standout seven-point performance, finishing with three goals and four assists. Peyton Moritzen (Soph., Manheim Township, PA) orchestrated the attack with five assists and a goal, while Peyton Stevens (Fr., Baltimore, MD) added five points of his own on three goals and two assists.

Landon Almonte (Fr., Viera Beach, FL) also recorded a hat trick for the Knights, and Rarnell McDowell (Fr., York, PA) contributed two goals in the victory. Additional goals came from Jacob Bieschke (Soph., Baltimore, MD), Jack White (Soph., Essex, MD), Joshua Cruikshank (Soph., Baltimore, MD), Joseph Onyijen (Fr., Baltimore, MD), Max Johnson (Soph., Westminster, MD), Ethan Quick (Fr., Dundalk, MD), Garrett Morgan (Fr., Parkville, MD), and Luke Wojtech (Fr., Crofton, MD) as Essex showcased its offensive depth throughout the afternoon.

Defensively, the Knights controlled possession and limited Sussex County's opportunities all game long. Max Johnson led the team with eight ground balls, while Dreu Washington added six ground balls and caused a turnover in a strong all-around effort.

CCBC Essex also received contributions from multiple goalkeepers during the win. Colin Parker (Soph., Martinsburg, WV) earned the victory after opening the game in net, while Riley Kilroy (Fr., Hampstead, MD), Wesley Zendgraft (Fr., Westminster, MD), Logan Tawney (Fr., Baltimore, MD), and Tyler Martin (Fr., York, PA) all saw action as the Knights combined to allow just one goal.

The Knights finished with 20 goals on 29 shots on goal and controlled the pace from start to finish in another dominant showing on their home field.

CCBC Essex will look to carry the momentum into its next matchup as the Knights continue their strong early-season campaign.
