Bailey Drives In Five As CCBC Essex Explodes Past Lackawanna College

Sophomore Connor Bailey drove in five runs on two hits to help power CCBC Essex to a 22-10 victory over Lackawanna College on Saturday at Scranton High School.
 
Bailey delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon in the sixth inning, blasting a grand slam to center field as the Knights broke the game open. The sophomore also doubled in the fourth inning to drive in another run.
 
The bats were alive throughout the afternoon as CCBC Essex piled up 12 hits while drawing 13 walks in the high-scoring road win.
 
CCBC Essex struck first in the opening inning when sophomore Casey Parsons doubled to score two runs.
 
The Knights added another run in the second after freshman Andy Martínez Rivera lifted a sacrifice fly.
 
Lackawanna battled back to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning, highlighted by a game-tying double from Stickney.
 
CCBC Essex answered immediately with a massive fourth inning, erupting for eight runs on seven hits to take an 11-3 lead. Freshman Manuel Agostini delivered one of the key swings of the inning with a two-run double on a full count.
 
The Knights continued to pour it on in the sixth, scoring nine more runs to extend the advantage to 22-5. Martínez Rivera, Laurin Guerra Guzman, Agostini, and Joey Rosa each drew RBI walks before Bailey's grand slam capped the inning. Parsons also added a sacrifice fly during the rally.
 
Sophomore Mekhi Mancuso got the start for the Knights, while Logan Castro and Drew Rommel provided scoreless relief efforts.
 
CCBC Essex finished with 12 hits on the afternoon. Gonzalez Rodriguez, Parsons, Caldera, and Bailey each recorded multi-hit performances.
 
Parsons also drew three walks as the Knights consistently pressured Lackawanna pitching all game long.
 
CCBC Essex swiped five bases in the victory and improved their offensive momentum heading into a critical Region 20 showdown.
 
The Knights return home Monday for their final Region 20 home doubleheader of the season against College of Southern Maryland. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at The Kingdom with major playoff implications on the line.
