Pitchers’ Duel Slips Away As CCBC Essex Falls To Garrett College
April 26, 2026 - McHenry, MD
Runs were at a premium on Sunday as CCBC Essex dropped a 3-0 decision to Garrett College in a tightly contested matchup defined by strong pitching on both sides.
Sophomore Michael Amadio (Lusby, MD) delivered a gritty outing on the mound for the Knights, working six innings and recording 18 outs while allowing just three runs on five hits. He kept CCBC Essex within striking distance throughout, but the offense was unable to break through.
Garrett College broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third when Ferraro launched a solo home run to left field on a 79 MPH fastball. The Lakers added insurance in the fourth, as Noah Broadwater connected for a two-run home run to extend the lead to 3-0.
Garrett starter Madden controlled the game from the outset, tossing a complete-game shutout. He scattered three hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking one while efficiently navigating the Knights' lineup.
Offensively, CCBC Essex managed just three hits on the day, with Joey Rosa (Fr., Carolina, PR), Casey Parsons (So., Salisbury, MD), and Orville De Jesus (Fr., Killeen, TX) each collecting one. The Knights flashed some defensive sharpness, turning a double play to help limit further damage.
Broadwater led the way for Garrett College, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs out of the middle of the lineup, while the Lakers played clean defense behind their pitching staff, committing no errors.
CCBC Essex will look to bounce back as they continue their series on the road against Garrett College.
