Knights Rally Late: CCBC Essex Storms Back to Complete Sweep of Delaware Tech
April 20, 2026 – Rosedale, MD
CCBC Essex showed resilience and firepower in Game 2, erupting for nine runs in the sixth inning to rally past Delaware Tech Baseball 2026, 9-5, and complete the home sweep on Monday.
The Knights found themselves in an early hole after Delaware Tech struck for four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run homer, and added another run in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
After being held in check through the first five innings, CCBC Essex flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth with a game-changing rally. The Knights plated nine runs on six hits, capitalizing on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. The biggest swing came from Orville De Jesus (Fr., Killeen, TX), who delivered a clutch two-run single to spark the surge.
Connor Bailey (So., Salisbury, MD) also drove in two runs during the inning, while contributions throughout the lineup kept the pressure on and never let Delaware Tech recover.
On the mound, Andy Martínez Rivera (Fr., Vega Alta, PR) was outstanding in relief, earning the win with four shutout innings. The right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out two and keeping Delaware Tech off balance down the stretch. Ezekiel Rivas (Fr., Gaithersburg, MD) got the start and battled early before turning it over to the bullpen.
At the plate, Logan Eisemann sparked the lineup from the nine-hole, going 2-for-2, while De Jesus and Diego Garcia (So., Bradenton, FL) led an aggressive effort on the bases. The Knights swiped five bags and applied constant pressure, forcing mistakes and creating opportunities.
CCBC Essex totaled nine hits in the win and turned a key double play defensively to halt momentum.
With the comeback victory, the Knights complete the sweep and carry momentum into their next matchup.
