April 10, 2026 - Wye Mills, MD
CCBC Essex opened Friday's doubleheader on the Eastern Shore with a 5-3 victory over Chesapeake College, taking Game 1 and putting themselves in position to finish off the road trip strong.
The Knights jumped out early and controlled the game from the start. Sophomore Connor Bailey (Salisbury, MD) got Essex on the board in the first inning with a two-run double, and sophomore Casey Parsons (Salisbury, MD) followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0.
Essex added to the lead in the third inning as freshman Joey Rosa (Carolina, PR) and Bailey each drove in runs with RBI singles, stretching the advantage to 5-0.
Rosa led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, collecting hits in the first, third, and fifth innings. Bailey continued to produce in the middle of the lineup, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Parsons added two hits of his own.
Chesapeake College battled back late, stringing together hits to cut the deficit to 5-3, but the Knights were able to limit further damage and close out the win.
Sophomore Michael Amadio (Lusby, MD) delivered a strong start on the mound, going 6.1 innings while allowing three runs on 10 hits, striking out six without issuing a walk. Freshman Sebastyen Perez (Woodbridge, VA) came on in relief to secure the final outs.
Defensively, the Knights were flawless, committing no errors, with freshman catcher Gabriel Vargas (Cidra, PR) leading the way with six putouts.
With the Game 1 win, CCBC Essex improves its standing in Region 20 play and will look to complete the doubleheader sweep in the final game of the road trip later in the day.
