March 31, 2026- Rosedale, MD

CCBC Essex finished off an impressive sweep of Frederick CC on Tuesday with a 12-7 victory in Game 2 at "The Kingdom." The Knights improve to 14-6 overall and 9-1 in Region 20 play, currently sitting in second place in the region, capping off a strong bounce-back day against a nationally ranked opponent.

Frederick CC—ranked in multiple preseason polls and sitting No. 3 in the JBB poll—jumped out early, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single and adding two more runs in the second to take a 3-0 lead.

The Knights responded immediately.

CCBC Essex took control in the bottom of the second inning, stringing together run-scoring singles from Michael Amadio (LHP/1B, Soph., Lusby, MD), Orville De Jesus (INF, Fr., Killeen, TX), and Diego Garcia (RHP/OF, Soph., Bradenton, FL / Manatee) to grab a 4-3 lead.

A groundout by Rodriguez in the third extended the advantage to 5-3 before Essex broke the game open in the fourth.

The Knights erupted for five runs on four hits in the inning. Joey Rosa (INF, Fr., Carolina, PR) delivered the biggest swing with a two-run single, while Amadio added a sacrifice fly and De Jesus followed with a two-run single to push the lead to 10-3.

Simply put, nothing was going right for Frederick CC, as the Knights dictated the game in all phases.

Rosa wasn't finished.

He added a two-run double in the fifth inning to finish with four RBIs on two hits, leading the offensive charge for Essex.

On the mound, Casey Parsons (RHP/1B, Soph., Salisbury, MD) got the start, allowing three runs over 3.1 innings. Out of the bullpen, Cuccurullo was outstanding, tossing 1.1 innings of shutout baseball with three strikeouts to help stabilize the game.

The Knights' offense totaled 13 hits, with Rosa, Manuel Agostini (SS, Fr., Toa Baja, PR), and De Jesus each collecting two hits. Essex also stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping four stolen bases.

Defensively, the Knights were flawless, committing no errors.

Frederick CC finished with nine hits and drew seven walks, but Essex's timely hitting and big innings proved to be the difference.

The sweep marks a statement performance for CCBC Essex against one of the top-ranked teams in the country, as the Knights continue to climb in the Region 20 standings.
