March 14, 2026 | Essex, MD

CCBC Essex bounced back in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, rallying from a four-run deficit to defeat CCBC Catonsville 8–4 and earn a split on the day. With the win, the Knights improved to 5–1 in Region 20 play and returned to the win column.

Catonsville struck first in the third inning, using a home run from Jersey and a run-scoring groundout by Perry to take an early lead. The Cardinals continued to apply pressure, building a 4–0 advantage midway through the game.

Essex responded in emphatic fashion in the bottom of the sixth inning, erupting for eight runs on four hits to take control. The decisive moment came when Zacchaeus Artry (Freshman, Memphis, TN) delivered a three-run double, highlighting the inning and putting the Knights in front for good.

On the mound, Joseph Cuccurullo (Freshman, Palm City, FL) earned the win in relief, allowing one run over one inning of work. Michael Amadio (Sophomore, Lusby, MD) added a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, striking out two to help secure the victory.

Starter Casey Parsons (Sophomore, Salisbury, MD) kept the Knights within striking distance, tossing five innings while allowing three runs (two earned) and striking out five.

Offensively, Artry led the way with three RBIs, while Andy Martínez Rivera (Freshman, Vega Alta, PR) set the tone at the top of the lineup with two hits and two stolen bases. Essex totaled three stolen bases as a team, continuing to pressure Catonsville on the basepaths.

Catonsville was paced by Bickers and Jersey, who each recorded two hits, while Payne, Perry, and Jersey each drove in a run.
After dropping the opener, the Knights responded with resilience, using a late surge to secure the split and maintain strong positioning in Region 20 play.

CCBC Essex will look to build on the momentum as conference play continues.
