CCBC Essex Triumph Over Pro Stock Royals Academy Varsity Royals

February 21, 2026 | Charlotte, NC

The Knights completed the doubleheader sweep with a poised 4–2 victory over Pro Stock Royals, finishing the North Carolina trip undefeated — the first unbeaten southern swing since 2020 during the O'Connor Era.

Fast Start from a Freshman

CCBC Essex struck first in the opening inning when Marvin Rodriguez (Bronx, NY – Freshman) delivered an RBI single on an 86 MPH fastball to get the Knights on the board.

Rodriguez finished 1-for-3 and led the team with two RBIs in a confident early-season performance.

Strong on the Mound

Yadier Henriquez Lopez (Harrisburg, PA – Sophomore) earned the win, tossing three innings and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out three.

Out of the bullpen:

  • Zacchaeus Artry (Memphis, TN – Freshman) delivered key relief innings to stabilize the middle frames.
  • Sebastyen Perez (Woodbridge, VA – Freshman) shut the door to secure the save and complete the sweep.

Three freshmen playing major roles in a road sweep — a strong sign for 2026.

Aggressive & Clean Baseball

The Knights applied pressure throughout:

• 4 stolen bases
• 0 errors defensively
• Clean execution in key moments

Joey Rosa (Carolina, PR – Freshman) was outstanding, going 3-for-3 to lead Essex in hits.

Sweep Complete

Essex pitching depth, disciplined at-bats, and clean defense sealed the 4–2 win and a 2–0 opening weekend in Charlotte.

The Knights head back north 2–0 — marking the first undefeated southern trip since 2020 in the O'Connor Era.

Region 20 play awaits Thursday at Prince George's CC.
