Fast Start Powers CCBC Essex Past Anne Arundel, 20-15

The CCBC Essex men's lacrosse team continued its undefeated start to the season on Wednesday with a high-powered 20-15 conference victory over Anne Arundel Community College. The Knights improved to 3-0 overall behind a balanced offensive attack and a dominant opening quarter.

CCBC Essex wasted no time taking control, erupting for nine first-quarter goals to build an early 9-3 lead. The Knights continued the offensive pressure in the second quarter, adding five more goals to take a 14-8 advantage into halftime.

Anne Arundel attempted to claw back into the contest during the second half, but Essex answered throughout the evening and never surrendered momentum. The Knights closed out the victory with four goals in the final quarter to secure the five-goal win.

Sophomore attackman Rob Andrews (Towson, MD) led the Essex offense with four goals and three assists while firing 10 shots, seven of which were on target. Peyton Moritzen (Soph., Manheim Township, PA) also recorded four goals and two assists, while Peyton Stevens (Fr., Baltimore, MD) added four goals on a game-high 11 shot attempts.

Jacob Bieschke (Soph., Baltimore, MD) contributed a strong all-around performance with three goals, two assists, and two caused turnovers. Holden Williamson (Fr., Pasadena, MD) added four points on one goal and three assists, while Landon Almonte (Fr., Viera Beach, FL) chipped in one goal and two assists.

Garrett Luber (Soph., Westminster, MD) scored twice for the Knights, and Gavin Teitelbaum (Soph., Westminster, MD) and Holden Williamson each found the back of the net as part of the 20-goal effort.

Defensively, Ben Klein (Fr., York, PA) collected a team-high six ground balls and added three caused turnovers, while Max Johnson (Soph., Westminster, MD) led the Knights with seven ground balls. Peyton Stevens also contributed three caused turnovers as Essex totaled 16 caused turnovers and 55 ground balls as a team.

In goal, Colin Parker (Martinsburg, WV) earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season, making 14 saves over 60 minutes of action.

CCBC Essex finished with 50 shots and 34 shots on goal, continuing the offensive consistency that has fueled the Knights' unbeaten start to the season.
