The CCBC Essex Knights showed flashes of offensive firepower and a strong late push, but ultimately came up short in an 18–10 loss to Onondaga Community College.
Onondaga set the tone early, jumping out to a 5–1 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to 10–2 at halftime. The Lazers maintained control through three quarters, but Essex refused to fold and delivered its strongest stretch in the final frame.
The Knights' offense found rhythm behind a balanced scoring effort, finishing with 10 total goals on 51 shots. CCBC Essex generated 23 shots on goal and consistently pressured the Onondaga defense, especially as the game wore on.
Offensive Leaders Step Up
Peyton Stevens (Fr., Baltimore, MD) led the Knights with a hat trick (3 goals) on 15 shots, providing constant pressure and finishing chances when opportunities arose. Peyton Moritzen (Soph., Manheim Township, PA) added a strong all-around performance with 2 goals and 1 assist, along with 6 ground balls in a high-impact outing.
Jacob Bieschke (Soph., Baltimore, MD) contributed a goal and an assist, while Rob Andrews (Soph., Towson, MD), Landon Almonte (Fr., Viera Beach, FL), Joshua Cruikshank (Soph., Baltimore, MD), and Luke Wojtech (Fr., Crofton, MD) each added goals to round out the scoring.
CCBC Essex also showed hustle across the stat sheet, with Moritzen leading the way in ground balls, while multiple Knights contributed in caused turnovers and possession battles throughout the game.
Goalkeeping Under Pressure
In net, Colin Parker (Soph., Martinsburg, VA) took the loss while facing heavy volume, finishing with 12 saves on 26 shots over 45 minutes of action. Riley Kilroy (Fr., Hampstead, MD) added relief minutes in the fourth quarter, making one save.
Despite the final scoreline, Essex's defensive unit continued to battle against sustained pressure from an Onondaga offense that struck for 18 goals across four quarters.
Late Surge Shows Potential
The Knights' most encouraging stretch came late, as they increased their offensive output and showed improved ball movement and finishing opportunities. That fourth-quarter push reflected a team still competing until the final whistle, even against one of the region's more potent offenses.
While the result moves CCBC Essex to 6–2 on the season, the Knights will look to build on their offensive rhythm and late-game execution as they move deeper into their schedule.
