Knights Split Region 20 Doubleheader with Montgomery College

April 21, 2026 – Rosedale, MD

CCBC Essex split a Region 20 doubleheader on Tuesday, falling to Montgomery College 6-3 in Game 2 after taking the opener earlier in the day.

The Knights struck first in the opening inning when Nehomar Caldera (Fr., Memphis, TN) delivered an RBI single to give Essex an early lead.

They added another run in the third on a Caldera sacrifice fly, continuing his strong performance in the middle of the lineup.

Montgomery College responded in the fourth with a game-tying home run before taking the lead in the fifth on an RBI double. CCBC Essex answered right back in the bottom half, as Caldera came through again with an RBI single to even the score at 3-3.

The game shifted in the sixth inning, when Montgomery College used timely hitting to push across three runs and take control at 6-3. The Knights were unable to generate a late rally.

Michael Amadio (So., Lusby, MD) took the loss on the mound, working 4.1 innings while allowing three runs on five hits.

Offensively, Caldera led the way with a perfect 2-for-2 day and drove in all three runs, while Connor Bailey (So., Salisbury, MD) added three hits in four at-bats to pace a nine-hit effort.

With the split, CCBC Essex now sits at 28-10 overall and remains in 1st place in Region 20 with a 19-3 record.
