CCBC Essex Surge Past CCAC Wildcats Thanks To Big Fourth Inning

Rosedale, MD – CCBC Essex closed out the 2024-2025 regular season with authority, defeating CCAC Wildcats 9-1 on Friday afternoon at home. A five-run fourth inning proved to be the turning point, as the Knights surged to their 27th win of the year.

Casey Parsons (Salisbury, MD / Parkside) kicked off the fourth-inning rally with an RBI single, followed by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Maxwell Urena (Brooklyn, NY / Christ the King), and a three-run double by Jimmy Perez (Queens, NY / High School for Arts and Business), giving the Knights a commanding lead.

The scoring started in the first inning when Eduardo Zayas (Cidra, PR / Bilingual Education School at Cidra) successfully stole home to make it 1-0.

Freshman Austin Shiflett (Dundalk, MD / Sparrows Point) was brilliant on the mound, flirting with a no-hitter through 4.1 innings. He allowed just one hit and no runs over five innings of work, striking out two and walking none. Diego Garcia (Bradenton, FL / Manatee) came in to close things down in relief.

Perez led the offense with three RBIs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Zayas and Perez each stole multiple bases, contributing to the team's five stolen bases on the day.

CCAC Wildcats managed just two hits, one apiece from Nathan Favereaux and Derek Torres. They also turned one double play defensively.

With the victory, CCBC Essex finishes the regular season at 27-25 overall and 23-17 in Region 20 play. The Knights now await final seeding and location announcements for the Region 20 playoffs, which begin Tuesday. While they have secured a playoff berth, seeding and matchups remain undecided, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the postseason.
