CCBC Essex Firing On All Cylinders Against Raptors

Germantown, MD — CCBC Essex delivered a well-rounded performance on Thursday afternoon, defeating Montgomery College Raptors 10-3 behind timely hitting and strong pitching.

The Knights opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when sophomore Eduardo Zayas (Cidra, PR / Bilingual Education School at Cidra) grounded out to bring in a run.

CCBC Essex extended their lead with a three-run third inning. Sophomore Jimmy Perez (Queens, NY / High School for Arts and Business) launched a solo home run to center, sophomore William Hartman (Reisterstown, MD / Franklin HS) followed with an RBI single, and sophomore Rafael Castillo (Queens, NY / High School for Construction Trades, Engineering, and Architecture) was hit by a pitch to force in a run.

Castillo returned to the plate in the fifth and added to the offensive surge, blasting a two-run homer to center field—his sixth of the season.

Freshman Casey Parsons (Salisbury, MD / Parkside HS) was dominant on the mound, earning the win after tossing seven innings. He allowed seven hits and just three runs (one earned) while striking out eight and walking none.

David Fajerski took the loss for the Raptors, giving up eight runs (six earned) on seven hits over four innings.

CCBC Essex totaled 10 hits on the day. Castillo, hitting in the seventh spot, went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Hartman led the team with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, and Perez added two hits in four trips.

Jaden Kritsky drove in the lone run for Montgomery and finished 1-for-3. Van Rosenbaum went 2-for-3 to lead the Raptors offensively.

CCBC Essex will look to sweep the series and climb back to a .500 record on the season.
