Throwback Thursday: 2018 CCBC Athletics Hall of Famer, Essex Baseball's Robert DeFabbia

Baltimore County, Md. -- Robert DeFabbia graduated from Herbert H. Lehman High School (Bronx, N.Y.) in 1995 and would play two seasons of baseball with the Knights.

An excellent catcher, as well as a premiere utility player (1B, 3B, and OF) for CCBC Essex, DeFabbia batted .455 his sophomore year with 10 home runs and 55 RBIs.

A team captain, he was awarded the following honors: All-NJCAA Region XX (1st team - 1997, 2nd team -1996), All-NJCAA Region XX Tournament Team (1997), and All-Maryland JUCO Conference 1st team (1996 and 1997).

He was voted CCBC Essex baseball team MVP in both his seasons in The Kingdom.

After graduating from CCBC with an Associate of Arts in 1997, DeFabbia played and studied at NCAA Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck, N.J. - 1997-1999).

In 1999, he captained the team and was named All-North East Conference 1st team, All-State of New Jersey 1st team, and All-State of New Jersey Player of the Year runner-up.

That same year, DeFabbia broke the school's single season record for runs batted in, total bases, and tied the record for home runs.

He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson with his Bachelor of Arts in 2001.

DeFabbia continued his baseball career, playing independent baseball for the Alexandria Aces in the Texas-Louisiana League (Alexandria, La. - 2000), Catskill Cougars in the Northeast League (Mountaindale, N.Y. - 2000), and Cook County Cheetahs in the Frontier League (Midlothian, Ill. - 2001).

He made the 2001 Frontier League All-Star team.
